About this course

Everything you need to know to sail a keelboat confidently with conventional or asymmetric spinnakers, including rigging, hosting, gybing and drop. Learn how to rig the boa; Host; Gybe and drop/recover one type of spinnaker; Either conventional or asymmetric; Gaining the knowledge and understanding to sail the best possible course downwind

Course fundamentals

Minimum ageNo RYA minimum age · Providers may set their own age rules, especially for under-18s
DurationApproximately 2 days, 16 hours or equivalent number of sessions
Course contentLearn how to rig the boa; Host; Gybe and drop/recover one type of spinnaker; Either conventional or asymmetric; Gaining the knowledge and understanding to sail the best possible course downwind
Certificate or qualificationThe appropriate RYA course completion certificate is awarded following successful completion of the course and its prescribed assessment.

Knowledge or skills to a stated level

Sailing skills to the standard of the Level 3 Better Sailing or Stage as part of a team on a keelboat
