The RYA Youth Windsurfing Stage 1 course introduces children aged 8–12 to the basics of windsurfing in a safe and engaging environment. Participants learn how to handle the board and sail, steer, and balance in light winds. The course emphasizes fun and safety, building confidence and a love for the sport. By the end, young windsurfers will have the foundational skills needed to progress to the next stage.

Fundamentals

Course Content

An introduction to the basic principles of getting on the water and sailing the board across the wind and back.

Minimum Age

Minimum Duration
8-10 hours delivered over a number of sessions or full days.

Certificate Issuing Criteria

Having got to grips with the basics, you can sail back and forth across the wind.
