Course Overview

The RYA Day Skipper Practical (Sail) course teaches participants to skipper a yacht during short coastal passages. Fundamentals

Course Content

Preparation for sea, deck work, navigation, pilotage, meteorology, rules of the road, maintenance and repair work, engines, victualling, emergencies, yacht handling under power, yacht handling under sail, passage making, and night cruising.

Minimum Age
16

Minimum Duration
5 days, 3 weekends or 3 days plus 2 days

Certificate Issuing Criteria

Demonstrate competence in skippering a small yacht in familiar waters by day.
